San Francisco thinks Las Vegas Is More GAY!!

My friend from San Francisco just email me a link to an article in San Francisco Gate newspaper talking  about how Las Vegas has surpassed San Francisco as a gay and lesbian destination.   My eye brows raised at reading that statement.   It was a nice article though.  Here’s an excerpt:

Las Vegas, in fact, now outranks San Francisco as a destination for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender vacationers. It ranks second to New York and ahead of San Francisco in the latest Gay & Lesbian Tourism Study, conducted each year by Community Marketing Inc., a San Francisco research firm.

Glad to know we’re more accepting than I thought.

Law of Attraction

I have been confronted lately with pessimism a lot lately. It frustrates me because I feel that so many people are focused on what they don’t want. If you now anything about the law of attraction, you would realize that it’s not personal. It doesn’t work for some people, and not for others. It’s a LAW. That means it’s universal. The thing that I think mostAttract what you want people forget is that it attracts WHATEVER you are focused on. Period. So, if you’re sitting in your office thinking about how you hate your boss because he’s a jerk and treats you poorly, then probably he’ll come into your office and treat you like crap. This is the law of attraction in motion. Many people say, well, I don’t want that so how could I be attracting it? You are attracting it into your life, because you are focused on that thought. What if, instead of obsessing about your pain-in-the-ass boss, why not focus on attracting what you want? Seriously, think about your ideal boss, or a good situation and focus on how that feels in your body. Some of these concepts can sound…what’s the word…”like a load of crap” to those of you who have never tried it. I would urge each of you to be open to the idea that it could work. Here are some rules to live by:

  • Ask for what you want. Be VERY specific with your desires. Visualize it, breathe it, feel it, imagine it. Associate a wonderful, positive feeling to that desire. Remember, just bask in the desire, not HOW it will manifest in your life. That’s not your job, the universe will make that happen.
  • Act as if you already have your desire. Expect your desire to come to fruition. There cannot be an ounce of doubt .
  • Be gracious and appreciative all the time. Be humble and grateful when you receive your desires.

That’s the quick version of the Law of Attraction. One good introduction to LOA is the DVD THE SECRET. Check out the trailer.

That’s a great place to start….and then the fun really begins. 🙂

My Experience With the Democratic Caucus

I am proud to say I attended my first caucus this weekend. It was a very interesting event. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I went with the intention of supporting the democratic party. My initial reaction to the event was that it wasn’t very organized. Our precinct leader was a very soft spoken Latina who had a heavy accent. It was difficult to hear her give instructions to all who participated.

So, if you’re like me you probably asked what the heck is a caucus? I went online and found the Democratic Caucus Website’s FAQ about the caucus. It shed a lot of light on the subject. Basically it’s to see who the populous feels is the best candidate for president. There are no votes, just active participation which translates to “Move to this side if you Gay Rightslike Hilary, and that side if you like Obama.” Then they count the numbers, elect delegates to represent the precinct, and then you go home. I’m leaving out all of the specifics, but it was quite enlightening. One thing that really stood out for me was when the Chairperson asked people to read the letters the candidates wrote for the caucus. One strong supporter of Sen. Obama, read his letter with such conviction and such presence that I was enthralled. It made me realize that people who participate in our election system can truly make a change. I never knew that I enjoyed the election process or politics for that matter.

The only way that Gay and Lesbians across the nation can change the system is to pGay Las Vegas Realtorarticiate. It’s amazing to me how few people were at the caucus, which got me to thinking that people are letting others dictate how they are going to live their lives. That just doesn’t seem fair. So from now on, I’m going to be actively involved in electing people who support gay and lesbian issues. If we as a group come together, our voices will be heard and change will happen. Don’t let a conservative right winged person who is active in the process shove their agenda down these politician’s throat-GET INVOLVED!

Human Rights Campaign

One way I’m doing this is by joining the Human Rights Campaign. This is a wonderful organization striving for equality in the GLTB community. They host social events every third Thursday of month in different locations. If you’d like to attend a free meeting and meet other gay and lesbian people in our community, please drop me a line and I’ll get you all the info you need. I look forward to making a change!

Definitely Gay Now!

Alright, last night I made me and my partner watch the movie HAIRSPRAY.

It was cute. I was waiting the whole movie for the last song. “You Can’t Stop the Beat”. That song is so infectious I found myself tapping my foot on the couch. It’s funny to me because I lived in the performing world for 10 years of my life and when I think about performing now, I am a little nostalgic but I don’t have a burning desire to do it anymore. I guess I feel like I had my experience and I was ready to move on to other things. It was a wonderful time in my life. Who knows, maybe the right situation would show up and I’ll perform again. Anyway, Hairspray is cute if you haven’t seen it.

Gay Family

As Thanksgiving approaches, I’m thinking about families a lot.  I’m so blessed to have my hottie mom come out to visit us from Florida.  She’s bringing her new boyfriend who is actually younger than mine!! 🙂  Go mom.   Anyway, my mom and her bf, and my sister will be spending their Thanksgiving with me and my partner. We’re cooking a 20 lbs turkey and pies, potatoes, green beans, wine and champaign.  I’m so glad that my family has accept my “gayness”. 🙂  My family is my partner and our two doggies, and let me tell you, I’m so happy to have my little gay family.
